Selamat pagi! Nice sunny day, its our first morning in Pasir Hitam. We slept well last night, all 4 adults and 2 kids in a our temporary tent by the beach. Our stuff are still laying everywhere so we must organize putting them in a safer place including moving our temporary tent to a higher area.

First day camping at Pasir Hitam

First morning in Pasir Hitam

Good news is that this time we have four men coming from the village to help us setting up things. The area of Pasir Hitam is spacious enough for seven football court but because its landform is mostly steep slopes covered with forest, we do not have many choices to settle down for our first adventure. We decided to put our tent near the beach and the river which is our source of clean water for cooking, drinking, and washing. We prepare our camping location by cutting bushes and then leveling the ground. Then to build our tent and the bed, we use coconut tree, some bamboo that we find easily around and a few wood sticks.

Taadaa.. our first tent is ready

Meanwhile Ninang (Belgis’s sister) together with Ike install a temporary kitchen and just cook near the river. Everyone knows each other so it was nice doing things together. There were also a few person passing by, going to their nearby farm. They came by Katinting boat and park it in our beach. On their way back we usually could buy some of their bananas, cassavas, vegetables, etc.

We cook and eat by the river at the beach
